Helping Older Adults Stay Strong and Independent

Renew Me

Renew Me supports older adults facing age-related loss of muscle strength and function.

By combining physical exercise, rehabilitation technology and nutritional guidance, the program is designed to help older adults preserve strength, mobility and independence for as long as possible.

The Problem

The Problem We Address

As people age, they can gradually lose muscle mass and strength. This makes everyday movement harder, increases the risk of falls, and can reduce the independence of older adults.

Loss of Muscle & Strength

Age-related decline in muscle mass makes movement harder.

Increased Risk of Falls

Reduced strength raises the risk of falls and related injuries.

Reduced Independence

Everyday activities become more difficult, limiting independence.

The Evidence

Why This Matters

As the U.S. population ages, helping older adults stay strong and independent is a growing national priority.

1 in 4

adults age 65 and older report a fall each year — more than 14 million people.

Source: CDC — Older Adult Falls Data

Falls are the leading cause of injury among older adults, and age-related muscle loss is a leading cause of reduced strength and independence — which staying active can help slow.

Our Approach

How the Program Works

We combine physical exercise, rehabilitation technology and nutritional guidance to help older adults preserve muscle function and independence. Technology supports the program — it is not the goal.

The Problem

Age-related loss of muscle strength and function among older adults.

Intervention

Physical exercise and electro-stimulation, with nutritional guidance.

Who Benefits

Older adults facing age-related decline.

Goal

Better muscle function, strength and independence.

Exercise + Technology + Nutrition → Preserved Function → Mobility → Independence

How It Works

How Renew Me Works

Every program follows the same general, person-centered path — the clinical detail is tailored to each person by qualified professionals.

1

Referral & Intake

A person is referred or reaches out, and we gather their history and goals to see how the program can help.

2

Assessment

Qualified professionals evaluate each person's condition and needs before any treatment begins.

3

Personalized Plan

A rehabilitation plan is designed around the person's specific situation and objectives.

4

Guided Sessions

The person attends structured therapy sessions, supported and adjusted by their care team.

5

Specialized Technology

Rehabilitation technology is applied as a tool within the plan — never as the goal in itself.

6

Progress & Follow-up

We track progress against each person's goals and adapt the plan as they improve.

Technology & Clinical Approach

Technology & Clinical Approach

The approach below is provided for professional and funder review. Care is always delivered and adapted by qualified professionals.

Clinical approach to healthy aging

Renew Me is designed to help older adults preserve muscle strength and function and reduce the impact of age-related decline (sarcopenia).

The program combines physical exercise, electro-stimulation and nutritional guidance, following recognized clinical guidance for assessing age-related muscle loss. Care is adapted to each person by qualified professionals.

What the program includes

  • Physical exercise and electro-stimulation to support muscle function and strength.
  • Clinical evaluation of strength and function using recognized assessment guidance.
  • Nutritional consultation and guidance.
Program Goals

What Success Looks Like

Because Joy of Giving USA is building this program, we describe the outcomes it is designed to support — not results we claim to have already achieved in the U.S.

  • Maintained muscle strength and function
  • Greater independence in daily activities
  • Reduced fall risk
  • Ability to keep living independently (aging in place)
  • Improved quality of life

What We Measure

These are the indicators Joy of Giving USA is designed to track, so funders can understand how a grant would be evaluated.

  • Participant enrollment
  • Strength and function assessments
  • Mobility
  • Ability to perform daily activities
  • Adherence
  • Program completion
  • Self-reported independence
For Foundations & Partners

What Foundation Support Makes Possible

Renew Me

Support healthy aging by helping older adults preserve muscle function and independence.
