We work to expand access to rehabilitation, health services and technologies that help people improve mobility, independence and quality of life.
To expand access to rehabilitation technology and professional care for individuals facing barriers to treatment, helping them recover mobility and independence.
To become a leading association that develops and promotes innovative, portable rehabilitation technology and professional care for people with physical and motor disabilities — expanding access to this work internationally.
Joy of Giving grew from a simple observation: too many people with disabilities and limited resources could not access the rehabilitation they needed.
Our Director of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation observed that many people with disabilities and economic vulnerability did not receive rehabilitation treatment, because private therapy was unaffordable and public options were extremely limited.
Caring for these patients, she shared their anguish at not being able to access adequate therapy — and decided to start a project to serve people with disabilities and economic vulnerability without the high costs of private medicine.
The approach combines electro-stimulation and guided rehabilitation with follow-up from physical therapists, psychologists and nutritionists — helping people work toward recovering movement and independence.
This is how the nonprofit Joy of Giving was born, with a mission to restore hope and mobility to those who need it most.
With 4+ years of program experience, we have built real operational capacity. These cumulative figures reflect program activity to date, which has primarily taken place in Mexico — see Where We Work for context.
